Job Details

  • Position: Research Scientist (No relocation).

  • Expected Gross Annual Salary Range: 117,300 CHF - 131,100 CHF per year, determined on the basis of objective, transparent, and gender-neutral criteria.

Role Summary:

  • The Research Scientist role focuses on oral care product development, screening of new technologies, and providing ongoing support for existing products, with the objective to drive business growth, sustainability, and funding the growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Oral Care Product Development team in cross-functional project teams that develop new consumer and professional products for oral care, from the project initiation until launch in the market.

  • Work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders to efficiently and timely move projects from Product Development stage to commercialization.

  • Create and maintain a network within the Global Technology organization to ensure alignment on projects and efficient usage of resources.

  • Build up and maintain contacts with suppliers, academic and privately owned research institutions, and external experts to access external technology for material testing and claim substantiation.

  • Drive and oversee development of new product formulae from early experimental phase to pilot scale and ensure timely execution of allocated projects meeting and respecting internal and external standards.

  • Proactively protect our company’s intellectual property.

  • Understand and apply internal and external standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with EHS, Product Safety, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, and Sustainability requirements.

  • Instruct the team’s Laboratory Scientists to carry out required formulation work.

  • Evaluate the delivered formulation work products including all formula related analytical, sensory, and stability testing results.

  • Plan and coordinate efficacy studies partnering with external academic institutions and contract research organizations. Guide development and validation of new test methods.

  • Substantiate product claims in alignment with project scope that adequately communicate formula efficacy and consumer benefits.

  • Analyze scientific trends in the oral care field (literature review, congress and trade show

  • participation).

  • Plan and coordinate clinical efficacy studies partnering with the Global Clinical Group and external academic and contract research institutions.

  • Contribute to the quality system as a member of one of the Quality Teams.



Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: 2+ years of industrial R&D or relevant experience in formulation development and product evaluation for Oral Health, personal care, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical products.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise: Working knowledge of colloid/interface science, emulsion/suspension chemistry, rheology, surfactants, and statistical experimental design (DoE).

  • Scale-Up & Process: Hands-on experience in product development, lab experimentation, and process technology for scale-up to commercial manufacturing.

  • Systems & Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with computer literacy in PLM and database systems.

  • Languages: Professional written and oral fluency in English is required.

  • Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, cross-functional teamwork, and interpersonal communication skills.
