Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity of our accounting system and the quality of internal controls across the whole organization, as well as overseeing the external audits (organizational and grant audits) and country office transactions.
Your Responsibilities :
- Review journals, bank statements, and other reconciliations to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Ensure internal control procedures are implemented and documented by all staff
- Maintain and update the internal control matrix to guarantee consistent controls across all staff, including during remote work
- Ensure proper recording of revenues and expenses according to internal policies and Swiss GAAP RPC
- Supervise quarterly closings and ensure timely completion of the closing checklist
- Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance to Swiss GAAP, including notes to the accounts
- Review monthly general ledger and supporting documentation for country office transactions to ensure completeness, integrity, and accuracy
- Collect, review, and analyse financial data to prepare mandatory donor reports and other financial metrics, working closely with business units and country offices
- Consolidate data from various programs and prepare reports and budget updates according to grant requirements
- Draft narrative reports based on financial results, highlighting key findings, and recommend corrective actions when needed
- Act as liaison with auditors and ensure availability and quality of documentation ahead of organizational and grant audits
- Serve as point of contact for financial matters related to EU grants and ensure donor compliance for all consortium members
- Liaise regularly with country office accounting staff to review transactions, ensure deadlines are met, and provide guidance on accounting matters
- Review partner engagement and expenditure to ensure proper financial management
