University of Bern and University Hospital Bern, Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Nutritional Medicine and Metabolism (UDEM)

Start of employment : By arrangement

PrecisionLab, led by Prof. Jose Garcia-Tirado, aims to develop new technology for managing diabetes and metabolic disorders through novel digital interventions such as advanced decision-support tools and automated insulin delivery.

Job purpose and responsibilities You will work primarily on our Android application : the platform we use to support research and conduct clinical trials. The app is central to research efforts, interfacing a number of different medical devices with our own solutions.

As part of our software team you will :

  • Work primarily on the integration between the app and third-party, modern medical devices.
  • Help in testing the app for future clinical trials.
  • In time, work on implementing new features, maintaining and modernising the application.

Requirements

  • Ongoing Masters in Computer Science or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin and Git.
  • Nice to have :

  • Experience with Android applications.
  • Proficiency using Room and SQLite. PostgreSQL and backend Kotlin libraries are a big plus.
  • Experience working with Bluetooth and related Android libraries.
  • Experience working with medical devices (CGMs, insulin pumps, ...).
