Sound Technician
Sound Technician at Viking Cruises is a shipboard role responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of all audio systems across various entertainment venues, including theaters, lounges, and outdoor spaces.
Core Responsibilities
- Live Performance Support : Operate and mix audio for production shows, live bands, guest lecturers, and special events.
- System Setup : Prepare backline equipment, instrument microphones, and wireless microphone systems (e.g., Shure UHFR & ULXD ).
- Technical Programming : Program sound consoles and computers (using software like QLab 5 ) during technical rehearsals.
- Maintenance : Conduct regular inspections and calibration of speakers, amplifiers, and DSP networks; troubleshoot equipment failures during live shows.
- Safety & Compliance : Adhere to public health and safety standards, maintaining order in all technical areas and participating in emergency drills.
Required Technical Skills
Digital Consoles : Proficiency with Yamaha CL Series and Yamaha LS-9 consoles is required.Software : Strong knowledge of Audinate Dante , QLab , and DSP networking.Hardware : Deep understanding of signal flow, RF coordination, and component-level maintenance for microphones and amplifiers.APPLY TODAY!

Profile & Qualifications
Experience : A minimum of 2–5 years of professional experience in live sound or technical theater is typically required.Education : A Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent vocational training is preferred.Physical Requirements : Ability to lift up to 70 pounds , work at heights (scaffolding / catwalks), and navigate confined spaces.Availability : Must be willing to work on 6-month contracts with a rotation of 2 months off.
