Our instruments combine advanced opto-mechatronic engineering with sophisticated software, enabling precise and reliable bioanalytical measurements. To expand our inter-disciplinary R&D team based in Wädenswil we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Team Lead.

Your role and responsibilities

In this hybrid role, you will lead a small core team of experienced software and data science professionals while contributing directly as a hands‑on developer (approximately 60–80% development, 20–40% leadership). You will report to the R&D Manager.

As Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with hardware/software engineers and application scientists to translate domain‑specific requirements and use cases into robust technical designs.
  • Drive architectural improvements to ensure scalability, maintainability, and future readiness.
  • Develop new features while ensuring backward compatibility and a consistent user experience.
  • Maintain and refactor existing codebases with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and clean coding practices.

As Team Lead, you will:

  • Work closely with the product manager, other team members, and broader stakeholders to define and prioritize product features.
  • Liaise with external project partners to define and coordinate their contributions.
  • Organize and contribute to DevOps processes including feature and milestone planning, user-stories, code reviews, testing, retrospectives and documentation.
  • Facilitate alignment between software development and hardware/applications development workstreams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication ability in English.
  • Proven experience in object-oriented design and clean coding practices
  • Experience in DevOps processes and tools, ideally within Azure.
  • Proficiency in C# and modern .NET frameworks (WPF preferred).
  • Strong sense of ownership and attention to code quality.
  • Eligibility to work in Switzerland.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as software development lead or software product owner is a strong plus.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and memory management.
  • Knowledge of API design, performance tuning, and embedded systems.
  • Multi-language development experience (e.g., Rust, Julia, Python, C++).
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation, real-time data processing.
  • Experience with other biomolecular interaction analysis techniques (e.g., SPR, BLI).
  • Experience with deploying data science or ML models in production.

What we offer

  • A collaborative, interdisciplinary team of experts in engineering, physics, data science, and biochemistry. Most team members hold a Ph.D.
  • A culture of innovation, ownership, professionalism, and continuous learning.
  • Opportunities to work on cutting-edge technology with real-world impact.
