The opportunity
The design of high voltage (HV) devices, such as gas circuit breakers (CB) and gas insulated switchgear (GIS), requires – among others –simulations and experiments for verification of insulation and switching performance. Additionally, the research activities in the area of gas circuit breakers are enhanced by various computer-aided-engineering tools. We are looking for an intern student with expertise in computational chemistry to contribute to the development of novel insulating materials for high-voltage power grid applications. The superior goal is the achievement of high-end quality of the product. The duration of the internship is 6 to 12 months.
How you'll make an impact
Contribute to technology development and research activities focusing on material analysis and characterization
Support simulations of gas insulation systems using state of the art computational chemistry packages
Study the relationship between microstructure and material characteristics and document findings and present test results to the team
Your background
B.Sc. degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics or similar discipline with focus on computer-aided methods
Programming skills and experience in computational chemistry is an advantage
Fluency in written and spoken English
Team player and well organized
Creative and able to work autonomously
Laboratory and experimental experience is a plus
