Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an Analyst to join ABB’s Strategic Intelligence team which is part of the Corporate Strategy and M&A function. The team provides intelligence on ABB’s (geo-) political, macroeconomic and market environment including our customers and competitors to ABB’s senior and executive leadership in order to support strategic decision making.The role reports to the Head of Strategic Intelligence. The successful candidate will work on topics of ABB-wide strategic importance and have the opportunity to contribute to shaping the company’s future direction. This role offers the opportunity to develop into a corporate or business strategy role or other positions in ABB, typically after 2-4 years.Your responsibilities include :

  • Perform high-quality analysis to address complex questions in a pragmatic manner.
  • Formulate output derived from projects into concise presentations.
  • Prepare high-impact documents enabling effective decision making in senior and executive management meetings.
  • Contribute to or lead work on regular Strategic Intelligence updates for senior / executive management.
  • Contribute to or lead workstreams on Strategic Intelligence projects – delivering results against partly tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the Corporate Strategy and M&A function on strategy projects or transactions.
  • Lead interactions with ABB colleagues across functions, geographies and businesses.
  • Think ahead and proactively identify way forward and improvements for own workstreams and tasks.The work model for the role is : {hybrid} {insert Linkedin #}

Qualifications for the role

  • We are seeking candidates who bring a unique blend of expertise, passion, and analytical prowess to excel in this dynamic role :
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, e.g. Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering
  • Approx. 2 years of relevant work experience, e.g. in corporate strategy, competitive intelligence or strategy consulting
  • Excellent analytical skills – structuring, problem solving
  • Passion for tackling complex problems, high level of curiosity, eagerness to learn and initiate engagement with others
  • Ability to prioritize and make tradeoffs in a semi-quantitative environment with only moderate support from supervisor
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, international and increasingly digital work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Experience in market and competitive intelligence, understanding of company financials as well as insight into ABB markets is a plus
  • Location : Switzerland, candidates need to be eligible for Swiss work permit, e.g. Swiss or EU / EFTA citizen (we will not sponsor a visa application for this role)
