Senior Specialist Solution Architect - Databases, AGS Specialists, Europe Central

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.
AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges. This might involve guiding customers as they refactor an application or designing entirely new cloud-based systems. Specialist SAs play a critical role in capturing customer feedback, advocating for roadmap enhancements, and anticipating customer requirements as they work backwards from their needs. As domain experts, SSAs also participate in field engagement and enablement, producing content such as whitepapers, blogs, and workshops for customers, partners, and the AWS Technical Field. Database Specialist Solutions Architects combine technical skills in Databases, business acumen, and technical sales skills. They are focused on supporting customers throughout the engagement lifecycle and work closely with the teams that support implementation including AWS Professional Services and Partners. SSAs unblock customers and help them get to production faster. Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technologies in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new solutions. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS such as services teams, field solutions architecture, sales, marketing, business development, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management. You should be passionate about helping companies/partners understand best practices for operating on AWS. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of emerging technology solutions and have past experience working as a Solutions Architect or similar role .You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones, so you can make strong contributions to deep architecture discussions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Exposure to designing and deploying production workloads (OLTP/OLAP). Knowledge of data engineering pipelines, ETL management, visualizations and analytical platforms. Experience with database migrations (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sql Server) to managed database services in the cloud (i.e. RDS, Aurora) in customer-facing roles.
- Experience with at least one non-relational database
- 8+ years of specific technology domain area (e.g. database architecture, software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- * Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
- * Knowledge of databases (querying and analyzing) such as SQL, MYSQL, and ETL Manager and working with large data sets
- * Experience designing solutions that combine relational and non‑relational data stores, and that align with long‑term data and analytics strategy (for example, integrating RDS/Aurora with analytics and AI services)
- * Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including executives, and prior experience in a technical role that supports sales or pre‑sales (workshops, whiteboarding, PoCs).
- * Experience leading customer engagements: discovery, requirements, architecture reviews, migration planning, and delivering technical workshops or proof‑of‑concepts.
- * Thought‑leadership activities such as writing blogs/whitepapers, creating reference architectures, and presenting at events are explicitly called out for senior Database SAs.
