Accountant (m/f/d) 80-100 % - International Commodity Trading (Englisch & German required)

For our client, an internationally active SME in the commodity trading sector, we are seeking an experienced and “hands-on” accounting professional to join their team. In this role, you will take full ownership of the company’s financial accounting and work closely with the CFO. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives on responsibility and enjoys operating in a fast-paced, international environment. We are looking for someone who is independent, self-managed, and curious to learn and develop.

• Full ownership of financial accounting and reporting
• Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
• Management of trade accounting activities, including revenue accruals, COGS, inventory valuation, and collateral control
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Management of payment processes and ongoing communication with banks
• Close collaboration with external auditors and support during audit processes
• Maintenance, improvement, and further development of accounting and finance systems
• Provision of administrative and finance-related support to the General Manager
• Payroll accounting, including social security contributions (limited headcount)
• Active involvement in the upcoming ERP implementation

• Completed education or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (a Swiss Federal Certificate is an advantage)
• At least three years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in an international environment (experience in commodity trading is a strong plus)
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems; experience with ERP implementations is a strong advantage
• Fluent in English (company language) and proficient in German for communication with local and tax authorities
• Independent, well-structured, and reliable working style
• High attention to detail, with a strong sense of ownership and curiosity to learn
