About the Role :

Are you a highly skilled Senior Google Cloud Systems Administrator ready to take on an independent, hands-on role in IT operations? We’re looking for an expert who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about optimizing and securing cloud-based infrastructures. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee the seamless operation of both internal and external services, ensuring our systems run reliably, securely, and at peak performance.

As the Senior SysAdmin, you'll manage end-to-end IT operations with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), collaborating closely with our development teams. You'll lead efforts in automation, monitoring, and capacity management, and help shape the future of our IT strategy. Your expertise in GCP will be critical as you deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and performance meet our growing business needs.

Key Responsibilities :

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Management and Monitoring

  • Lead the design and optimization of automated monitoring processes for GCP-based servers, networks, and systems, identifying irregularities and performance bottlenecks.
  • Ensure high availability of our production environments through proactive system maintenance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of our infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement capacity management strategies to scale efficiently as client demand grows.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), providing timely reports and communication with clients on any operational changes or API adjustments.
  • Take full responsibility for GCP-based build deployments from DEV through to PROD environments, ensuring smooth transitions and data security throughout.

Incident Management & Help Desk Escalation

  • Act as a point of escalation for internal and external help desk issues, swiftly resolving or triaging inquiries to maintain smooth operations.
  • Lead incident response efforts, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Assist in the management of internal IT infrastructure, supporting physical and cloud-based setups.
  • Policy & Process Development

  • Develop, document, and continuously refine IT operations policies to ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
  • Oversee vendor contracts, ensuring third-party services align with our standards and operational requirements.
  • Use Atlassian Jira & Confluence to maintain clear documentation of processes, incident reports, and continuous improvements.
  • Skills and Qualifications :

    Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Google Cloud Certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect) are required.
  • Proficiency in English is essential, and German is an asset.
  • Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, with significant expertise in managing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries is a plus.
  • Proven ability to independently manage cloud-based infrastructures, deploying and scaling production systems.
  • Technical Skills

  • Expertise in Google Cloud Platform services, architecture, and Google Workspace Administration.
  • Proficient in managing Kubernetes deployments and Kubernetes manifest files.
  • Strong knowledge of TLS, MTLS, and x509 certificates to ensure secure communications.
  • Solid in scripting languages like Python, Bash, TypeScript; experience with Go is a bonus.
  • Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana for system monitoring, and Jenkins for CI / CD.
  • Skilled in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Familiar with SQL databases, especially Postgres, and log analysis for troubleshooting.
