Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in one of our sites in Zurich.
We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding, and the drive to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level.
You have experience creating and devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. You will manage teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and participate in an on-call rotation. You are willing to work autonomously and manage your teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to strong knowledge in data centers, hardware and network repair, you will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24 / 7.
Key job responsibilities
Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
You will guide a team of technical professionals to support this work, as well as frequent engagement in the following activities :
oPrioritize and assign trouble tickets to Data center technicians and operators
oRoutinely review ticket queues for large events and act accordingly
oEducate, train, and guide Data Center Operations Technicians in best practices relating to resolving service owner issues
oManage and deliver mid-size projects
Recommend, write, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and the required Service Level Agreement (SLA)
oManage a diverse team of Data Center Technicians with varying skills
oMaintain the on-call schedule, and coordinate absence and vacations ensuring 24 / 7 operations
oParticipate in on-call rotation for emergency calls
oWrite and deliver performance reviews for staff
