Network Engineer F / M

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced network engineer with strong technical skills in network architecture, installation, and maintenance of all network services. Your ability to design and implement agile, robust, secure, and high-performance network solutions will be critical for our company.

Responsibilities :

Ensure the installation, maintenance, and support of the institute's network infrastructure (wired and WiFi)

Participate in architectural decisions for the Idiap network infrastructure

Provide ongoing technological monitoring for new technologies

Sought Profile

HES or EPF computer science engineer or equivalent experience with at least years of experience as a network engineer

Recognized ability as a network architect, with experience in the design, and optimization of network services

Advanced technical skills in the implementation and maintenance of network services (IPS / IDS / NAC / DNS / DHCP / LDAP / radius / idp...) and network concepts such as VLAN( or OSPF) / MAC auth (

Good knowledge of security layers such as SSL / TLS / SSH / IPsec / WireGuard / OVPN

Ability to automate work with Ansible, such as managing network configurations

Ability to analyze and resolve complex network issues.

Thorough, pragmatic, able to work both in team and independently

Excellent skills in documentation, communication, and project management.

Very good knowledge of French and English in both oral and written form.

Added bonus :

Marked interest and experience in using open-source solutions

Good knowledge of the following technologies : Linux, git, installation of open-source software, virtualization (Proxmox, KVM), containers (Docker, Apptainer)

Knowledge of products from Fortinet / Aruba / ProCurve / Dell SONiC / OPNsense / pfSense

Knowledge of cross-platform network configurations for clients (Linux / MacOS / Windows)

Good knowledge of bash or Python scripting

Writing skills for documenting work

Good listening and sharing skills

Knowledge of high-speed and low-latency networks for HPC applications
