Job Description :

As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.

Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).

Your responsibilities

Detailed design, planning and cost control in their sub-project

Maintain the legal aviation & safety requirements in their operations and implementing them

Maintain the legal aviation & safety requirements in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework (EASA Part-21,J and CS27)

Inform about possible projects risk related to their tasks

Implement the applicable design guidelines for the parts they work on

Tasks :

Develop mechanical products by studying requirements, researching and testing information, manufacturing and assembly methods and applied materials to achieve a sub project design which complies with the product requirements

Collaborate with other team members on technical level to achieve a mature design of their sub system

Assure system and product quality by : review of fabrication methods, review of assembly methods and installation processes to achieve a well-established manufacturing and assembly process

Conduct part and assembly drawings with all the required information for the production and assembly of the part or system to achieve a clearly defined design according to Kopter’s procedures and applicable standards

Conduct their work by using appropriate aerospace analysis methodologies and in accordance with the applicable regulatory frameworks (EASA Part-21,J and CS27) and applicable Kopter business standards

Use computer-aided design 3D CAD – software to design subsystems to achieve a 3D defined model of the system

Create technical specifications to achieve well defined process and product information

Support and conduct experimental, environmental, operational and stress tests on models and prototypes of aircraft and aerospace systems and equipment to achieve the proper level of system testing

Attend the assembly and fitting of aircraft and components to achieve an understanding for the assembling process and improve the design and instructions of the system

Conduct presentations to managers and other team members to achieve a similar understanding of the system

Your qualifications

University degree in mechanical engineering, or similar related engineering degree

Minimum 3 years’ experience aerospace industry, preferred with transmission systems or structural design

Must have 3D CAD experience

Must have experience to understand and create manufacturing and assembly drawings

Preferred experience in manufacturing processes related to aerospace

Preferable experience in aerospace system testing

Preferable experience in certification of aerospace systems

Very good English spoken and written (minimum B2)
