Research Internship (Zürich)

You want to build at the cutting edge of AI pushing the limits of scalable AI security. At Lakera we are not just another research lab: we are engineering the next generation of security foundation models with immediate impact at scale. As a Research Intern you will have ownership in shaping our key initiatives and working closely with the team in solving the largest open challenges in AI security.

We are building the worlds best foundation models for offensive and defensive security to secure AI applications at scale. As a Research Intern you will lead work on everything from designing novel LLM post training approaches for security to scaling training pipelines. You will define the future of AI security and your research will not sit on a shelf it will protect organizations globally.

Example Projects

• Scale training of large-scale security foundation models to very large parameters spaces.

• Design and optimize distributed training pipelines for efficient LLM post training.

• Implement reinforcement learning-based post-training methods for LLMs at scale.

• Come up with novel architectures to more effectively include large-scale context in defensive models.

• Contribute to expanding our efforts in benchmarking the security of novel LLMs when embeded in agentic systems.

About You

You love to build fast. You thrive in designing and scaling AI systems and making models actually work in production. You are comfortable working at the frontier of a rapidly moving field and like to see your research have real world impact at scale.

You enjoy working in a fast-paced impact-driven environment where you own the full stack and can push boundaries.

We are looking for at least one of the following:

• A track record of scaling impactful research efforts ensuring that new ideas can move from concept to large-scale deployment.

• Proven track record of advancing research through engineering whether by implementing novel ML techniques scaling complex experiments or optimizing training and inference for cutting-edge models.

• Currently pursuing an advanced degree in ML AI or a related field.
