In a nutshell
The EU Horizon Project 'ClimateSmartResearch' (CSR, https : / / climatesmartresearch.eu) investigates climate-smart practices in agriculture, i.e. measures for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and / or adapting to climate change. Within the project, you'll be coordinating the activities for the validation of innovative (emerging) climate-smart practices. You will be using model-based analyses to evaluate the potential of these practices. In this way, you will support us and the project in the development of relevant principles for the climate-neutral transformation of European agriculture.

Headquartered in Bern-Liebefeld (as of 2026 : Posieux), Agroscope is attached to the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER.

The 'Climate and Agriculture' Research Group explores options for reducing agricultural greenhouse-gas emissions from soils and fertilisers and through carbon sinks. The Group investigates the opportunities and risks posed by climate change for plant production and evaluates options for adaptation. It is also responsible for the Swiss Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Inventory. Agroscope is closed during the Christmas period – no applications will be processed from 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.
