You will assist in providing more accurate pricing and expand the range of services that the company can offer.You will be responsible for tracking and analyzing pricing and flows of commodities in the ferrous sector. You will follow both physical pricing and flows as well as the growing futures markets in ferrous products.
Detailed job duties include
- Track pricing across the range of ferrous products, implementing a quantitative approach to complement market intelligence generated by the commercial team
- Identify critical trends, opportunities and threats in the sector
- Development of models based on statistics and data
- In coordination with the commercial team, assess opportunities to use ferrous futures contracts to hedge physical exposure and develop a proprietary trading book
- Assess the use of futures contracts to offer valued added services to customers and suppliers such as fixed / floating price mechanisms and long term contracts
- Assess the relevance and viability for the use of FFAs and other hedging (e.g. bunkers) to de-risk the company’s freight exposures
- In coordination with the commercial team, look at opportunities for the company to develop Carbon trading and offset, non-ferrous metals and other commodities
