THE ROLE
The UAC Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing and overseeing Uncleared and Abandoned Cargo (UAC) operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient handling of UAC files, reducing case volumes, and minimizing costs associated with abandoned cargo. The coordinator works in close collaboration with commercial colleagues to negotiate demurrage discounts and improve client database accuracy. Additionally, the role involves recovering costs from clients, maintaining a well-organized archive system, and contributing to a proactive and dynamic team environment.
YOUR IMPACT
As UAC Coordinator you will:
- Handle UACfiles per area in charge.
- Reduce the number of UAC cases already opened in Themis.
- Reduce the costs of an UAC case by looking for the cheapest disposal option (salvage companies).
- Reduce the cost of an UAC case by negotiating the storage charges with GVA Operation dept & terminals.
- Reduce the number of potential new UAC cases (still not opened in Themis) by liaising with GVA Commercial colleagues to grant demurrage discount.
- Contribute to clean/improve cliens’ database by identifying repeat offenders and informing GVA Commercial colleagues to take measures.
- Recover pending charges of an UAC case from clients via agents and ask support from GVA Commercial colleagues to press VIP clients.
- Keep Themis updated.
- UAC Prevention: train and support agencies in the use of OV tool to avoid new UAC cases.
YOUR BACKGROUND

- Capacity to handle unforeseen meetings, ability to work under pressure.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Language skills - Good knowledge of spoken and written English and French, Italian is an asset.
