Job description
The position encompasses the development of state-of-the art automated and robot-assisted experimental setups together with a small team of experienced and highly motivated researchers. The focus will be on the development, enhancement, and maintenance of LabView™ programs to automate mechanical experiments, control devices, acquire data and carry out post-processing operations. Other tasks comprise mechanical design (about 10%) and machining as well as electronics (about 10%). Examples are :
- Integration of components to automate mechanical experiments : programming of acquisition cards, machine vision, robotics, acquisition software for test automation with National Instruments LabView™
- Design and construction of testing equipment along with team members, both mechanical and electrical, e.g. mechanical testing devices or amplifiers
- Day-to-day operations and maintenance of existing devices
- Ad-hoc mechanical machining of simple parts or devices needed for lab operations
- Material and parts orders and contact with suppliers
