We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team in Switzerland. This is an exciting hybrid role (3 days onsite) at our customer location in Zurich , offering the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cloud initiatives. The position is set to start on January 1, 2025 , and will run until December 31, 2025 , with a flexible engagement level of 80-100% FTE . Fluency in English  is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Adoption & Coaching : Provide end-to-end support for cloud adoption while coaching teams on best practices, including FinOps .
  • Design & Development : Architect and implement scalable, resilient applications in Azure Cloud .
  • System Migration : Guide the migration of legacy systems to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) in line with organizational technology standards.
  • Microservices Architecture : Define and implement solutions using Kubernetes, Kafka, Azure Key Vault, Apigee API Gateway , and related technologies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with CTOs, governance teams, and cross-functional teams to define and implement seamless API integrations and meet business requirements.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

  • Azure Cloud Expertise :

    • Proven experience designing and developing scalable, resilient applications on Azure.

  • Microservices Architecture :

    • Proficient in implementing architecture using tools like Kubernetes, Kafka, Azure Key Vault, Apigee API Gateway, and other Azure components.

  • Deep understanding of encryption and secure communication within cloud environments.
  • Advanced Java Proficiency :

    • Strong command of core and advanced Java concepts, including multithreading .

    Additional Skills

  • Experience in cloud consulting and coaching, with a focus on FinOps best practices.
  • Expertise in defining cloud deployment strategies and target operating models.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to meet business goals.
  • Integration experience to ensure compatibility with legacy systems.
