Algrano is a Swiss tech startup transforming the global coffee trade through transparency and digitalization. Our online marketplace connects coffee farmers directly with roasters in Europe and the USA, supported by logistics, insurance, and financing. Honored with the Best Innovation award by the European Coffee Industry Association in 2015 for our launch and again in 2022 for our achievements, we currently serve over 1,000 sellers and roasters in more than 50 countries.

We are building a scalable data warehouse to enhance analytics and reporting. As a Data Engineering & Insights Analyst Intern, you’ll help structure data, define business needs, and improve accessibility. You’ll also support BI tool selection, and report consolidation.

Tasks

As a Data Engineering & Insights Analyst Intern, you will work directly with the CTO, Christian, and collaborate with key stakeholders, including engineers Zmago and Vladi, as well as a cross-functional business team. You will play a crucial role in shaping Algrano’s data infrastructure, ensuring data is structured, accessible, and optimized for analytics.

Your main responsibilities will include :

Defining business requirements : Engage with stakeholders to understand key reporting needs.
Data preparation and transformation : Use SQL views and Python scripts to extract and process data.
Structuring the data warehouse
BI tool selection and setup : Support the evaluation, configuration, and implementation of our analytics tool.
Report consolidation : Migrate and optimize existing reports into the selected analytics platform.

You will own the analytics workflow post-data warehouse, ensuring reports provide value and align with business insights.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with :

Background in Data Science, Engineering, or Analytics (or relevant studies / experience).

Experience with Data Warehouse concepts and design principles

Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy in data reporting.

Experience with SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

Familiarity with Python for data processing and automation.

Understanding of data modeling concepts (fact / dimension tables, OLAP databases).

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an iterative, evolving data environment.

Interest in Business Intelligence tools and analytics infrastructure.

Benefits

6-month internship (approx. 2 days per week on average). The duration can be extended, and a higher weekly commitment is possible.

Location : Zurich, with the option for home office. However, we prefer if the candidate can come to the office occasionally.
