Within the Hitachi Energy Transformers business, we are looking for an experienced Material Compliance Portfolio Manager.
This newly created position is a unique opportunity to work in an exciting global business and lead the Transformer Business material compliance global portfolio strategy and related operations.
Reporting to the Global Portfolio Manager, you will play a critical role by interacting with the different functions (including technology and supply chain), product groups, and regional teams to ensure that our products comply with applicable regulations and standards globally.
Your responsibilities
Lead the Transformer Business material compliance global portfolio strategy and related operations to ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations related to product material compliance, as well as policies regarding the material composition of our products and their production processes.
Define and keep up to date the business product material portfolio strategy and action plans by monitoring the evolving regulatory landscape and changes in product material compliance regulations and industry standards on a global level and their impact on our products.
Collaborate with the business functions to ensure material compliance at all stages of the product life cycle, developing and implementing strategies for risk mitigation and continuous improvement of material compliance.
Guide and work together with the products managers and technology team to develop the portfolio roadmaps for product material-related activities, product development, alternative materials etc, prioritizing activities related to legislation and customer demands.
Lead the product material compliance operations, setting the governance and coordinating action plans with cross-functional teams in the business, developing a material compliance support organization with the global product groups, sustainability, technology, supply chain, and regional teams.
Conducting product material compliance assessment, including substance disclosures and restricted substance lists for the global / regional / local organizations, identifying potential compliance issues related to materials and their use, and translating new requirements to action across the portfolio including : Material requirements affecting technology, engineering, design, suppliers certifications, customer documentation, registration with national authorities, and disposal / recycling / reuse obligations.
Define processes and set up a framework for systematic compliance documentation and reporting, including maintaining accurate records and reports and reporting of product-related hazardous and restricted substances and the implementation and use of risk and compliance software and tools.
Work with the customer facing organization to properly address customer inquiries related to product material compliance and take necessary actions to keep up to date product material declarations and other documents requiring product material compliance transparency.
Building and maintaining relationships with the company’s product material compliance teams and with external partners, suppliers, and authorities, acting as the main point of contact for overarching material compliance topics, and addressing product material compliance inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Put in place informative and training programs to raise awareness and enhance knowledge of product material compliance requirements and best practices, developing the organization address the legal requirements and addressing customer needs and related questions.
Minimum Requirements
Degree in a relevant field such as chemistry, environmental sciences, engineering.
At least 5 years of experience in product material compliance. The experience in a global organization will be a plus.
In-depth knowledge of relevant national and international regulations and standards in the field of material compliance including Conflict Mineral, REACH, RoHS.
Experience in leading and developing global teams and workgroups.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work in a global, multicultural environment and deal with different cultural approaches.
Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.
Excellent written and spoken English skills.
