EHS Lead (Environment, Health & Safety)

Due to our continued growth, we are now hiring an EHS Lead for our EHS Team based in Lachen, Switzerland.
In this role, you are responsible for implementing the global EHS value chain strategy to drive best-in-class performance in Environmental Health and Safety at our manufacturing site or a distribution center.
You are responsible for delivering KPI’s for both leading and lagging indicators that ensure the company’s ongoing success in these areas.
You will be assigned programs and / or buildings of focus as a member of a campus EHS team. You will also be responsible for collaborating with the operations teams to support current and future business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
As a member of a campus team, the EHS Lead will work with minimal oversight and will manage regulatory (federal, cantonal, local) and ELC requirements related to safety and the environment and help ensure the sites’ good standing with regulatory bodies.
The EHS Lead will work closely with the site’s management team to enable these results.
Main responsibilities :
- Develops and implements EHS programs as necessary to ensure compliance, meet standards of the company’s Environmental Safety Management System (ESMS) and positive movement against EHS KPI’s.
- Assists in the deployment of the Global Value Chain strategy across the campus including transformational activities as it pertains to the EHS function
- Establishes and provides coaching to employee-led teams such as Safety Committee, Behavior-Based Safety Team, and Green Teams
- Develops and delivers EHS training and collaborates with local and global stakeholders to update training in response to new legal requirements or changes at the site
- Monitors regulatory and industry trends for our operations to identify risks and opportunities and develop strategies to ready the sites and embrace innovation
- Plans and carries out risk assessments and supports operational functions in defining and taking appropriate mitigation measures
- Establishes and provides oversight / technical support to the campus’s incident response process and ensures that non conformances (injuries, spills, etc.
are investigated, corrective actions implemented, and lessons learned carried forward
- Gathers, analyzes, and evaluates data for local and global reporting and as input for improvement processes.
- Drives a continuous improvement mindset through the on-going identification and implementation of best practices (inside ELC and externally)
- Supports communications on EHS strategy to the campus and gain the commitment of other functions in the successful completion of the initiatives.
Adapt messaging to include information specific to the campus as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or similar in Environmental Science, Safety Science, Engineering, or other Science / Technology
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Safety, health, hazardous Materials, machinery Safety, or Environmental Affairs, preferably in manufacturing operations
- Preferred certifications : Specialist for Occupational Safety and Health (ASGS), NEBOSH International Diploma, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar designations or working towards such certification
- Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to adjust communication style based on the situation and the audience
- Sound knowledge of management systems, methodologies, basic concepts and best practices in EHS management. Ability to understand and communicate technical, environmental, and safety requirements to our business partners
- Ability to work independently with periodic supervision
- Good PC skills to manipulate and present data
- Sound knowledge and experience with Swiss Environmental, Health & Safety regulations
- Fluent in MS Office applications and good PowerBI knowledge
- Full professional proficiency in German and English
