Work Hours / Schedule : Up to 30 hours per week, flexible schedule
Primary purpose of position : Install, test and provide training for new network.
Duties and responsibilities : 1. Complete network installation training 2. Place network components on property and asset management lists 3. Install wireless access points and switches, assisting with configuration and testing. Replacement of wireless access point brackets as needed. 4. Pull and terminate Cat 6 ethernet cable as needed 5. Decommission and disposal of unsupported wireless access points 6. Inform faculty, staff, and students of procedures to connect to the new network 7. Log and track tickets using service desk management software and maintain up-to-date ticket records and related documentation 8. Work with managed service providers and manufacturer to escalate troubleshooting and warranty service 9. Write knowledge-based articles for common problems and document configuration.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required : 1. Experience deploying or troubleshooting computers, electronics, or electrical systems. 2. Ability to work independently 3. Ability to climb an 8-ft ladder and work overhead 4. Genuine desire to learn and deploy a secure IT system 5. Optional : Any IT or cybersecurity certification
