Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IP Counsel with a focus on Licensing & Disputes to join our Legal team. As the IP Counsel, you will play a crucial role in managing and protecting our intellectual property assets, as well as providing legal counsel on a wide range of matters related to IP licensing, disputes, and information technology. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to support Aptiv's strategic objectives .

Your Role

  • Software license agreement negotiations and reviews, including advising supply chain management team on risks and developing processes.
  • Draft and negotiate Commercial Intellectual Property contracts and documents with suppliers and customers pertaining to software.
  • Support Information Security, Cybersecurity and Privacy related contracts, processes, policies, investigations and reviews.
  • Advise and consult on matters related to Free and Open Source Software, and assist business with related compliance issues.
  • Guide engineers and supply-chain teams on legal implications related to software, machine learning and data products.

Your Background

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an IP Lawyer with a focus on licensing and IP litigation.
  • Technical background in software, computer science, electrical engineering, or physics.
  • Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
  • Familiarity with IP laws and regulations, including patent, trademark, and copyright.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide sound legal advice to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with M&A activities and due diligence is a plus
