Founded in late 2019, Athebio is a highly innovative biotech startup on a mission to revolutionize the field of biotherapeutics. We specialize in developing advanced biotherapeutics with pharma partners based on Designed Ankyrin Repeat Proteins (DARPins) and enable the design and creation a variety of modalities including radiotherapeutics, ADCs, AAV, LNP and T cell engagers.

Your responsibilities

  • Production : Our super stable Athebody® DARPins can be efficiently produced in bacteria and you will be responsible for the expression, purification and characterization of these remarkable proteins. Quality is key and we focus on providing only the best molecules to our partners.
  • Independent Worker : Be a team player and support the team by planning and execution of work packages with minimal support.
  • Data Mastery : Analyze and interpret your own results, then summarize and present to the team, to enable efficient decision making.
  • Knowledge Expansion : Continuously expand your scientific and technical expertise.
  • Scientific Excellence : Maintain rigorous standards in your experiments, striving for scientific excellence.
  • Lab Equipment Care : Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our laboratory equipment.

Key requirements

  • Apprenticeship, BSc, or MSc in a field of Life Sciences, e.g., biochemistry, (molecular / chemical) biology or similar.
  • Minimum of 2 years of protein science experience in industry.
  • Dedication to hands-on work in the lab is crucial.
  • Strong experience in bacterial expression and affinity purification of proteins.
  • Expertise in the biophysical characterization of therapeutic proteins using routine techniques such as HPLC and SDS-PAGE.
  • Knowledge of binding assays such as BLI / SPR and ELISA.
  • Mammalian cell culture and in vitro cell assay experience is preferred.
  • Timely, independent, and precise working style, in the planning, execution and documentation of experiments.
  • Critical thinking and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Team player with proactive communication and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English – German would be a plus.
