Job Opportunity : Senior Sous Chef on a Luxury 6-Star Cruise Ship

  • Location : At sea, aboard a 6-star luxury cruise ship
  • Contract : 5 months onboard + 2 months leave
  • Salary : $5,400 USD / month (tax-free, paid only during onboard contracts)
  • Start Date : Mid-December 2024

About the Role : Senior Sous Chef

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef, and Executive Chef.
  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting a multicultural team of 40–60 crew members in stations such as saucier, soups, entremetier, grill, and starters.
  • Assisting with mise en place and service for multiple outlets, including room service.
  • Upholding and surpassing six-star culinary standards in collaboration with the broader culinary leadership.

    • Ideal Candidate Profile

    We are looking for candidates with :

  • Experience : Proven background in fine dining and luxury cruise lines.
  • Leadership : Strong mentoring and teaching skills with a hands-on, patient, and team-oriented approach, especially when working with multicultural teams.
  • Language : Fluency in English (essential).
  • Documentation : Preference for candidates with STCW certification, C1D visa, Seaman’s Book, and valid Maritime Medical Certificate (e.g., ENG1). The company will assist with requirements if not already held.
  • Commitment : Willingness to engage in long-term contracts (at least four contracts over two years).

    • Requirements :

  • A recent Appraisal Evaluation from your last cruise or fine-dining experience.

    • Work Conditions :

  • Schedule : 10-hour shifts daily, 7 days a week (split shifts).
