Call for PhD and MD-PhD fellowship applications

The IOB PhD and MD-PhD Program on Translational Visual Neurosciences offers a unique opportunity to make breakthrough discoveries in the function or dysfunction of the eye and the visual brain, as well as to develop radically new therapies for eye diseases. These therapies are urgently needed, since the prevalence of visual diseases is rising globally and effective therapies are lacking for most of them.

• As part of this program, IOB offers PhD and MD-PhD fellowships to outstanding candidates from diverse fields such as Biology, Medicine, Physics, Computer Sciences and Engineering who wish to pursue their research in any of our research groups ( and clinical research center)
• In addition to participating in world-leading vision research, IOB also offers an exciting program of lectures on vision, eye diseases and therapy, practical training in state of the art physiological, molecular and translational technologies, clinical time involving patient visits, practical training in scientific writing and in scientific presentations, in-depth advice on academic, industrial and clinical career pathways, as well as opportunities to participate in international summer courses and conferences.

PhD and MD-PhD candidates will be enrolled at the University of Basel .

The fellowships cover a full salary at Swiss standards for the duration of the studies , typically 5 years.
