Associate Director - Global Medical Excellence Lead
PURPOSE :
Partner with Takeda business units to drive strategic and operational alignment of Medical Excellence programs that are aligned with overall corporate goals and objectives. Ensure successful development and execution of training designed to build functional skills and behaviors to meet the evolving business needs. Proactively identify the future needs of the business through understanding industry trends related to Medical and Field Medical Excellence and input into a strategic roadmap designed to help Takeda lead the industry and achieve sustainable excellence. Lead and collaborate in the development of digital tools and innovative technology designed to enhance external and internal medical engagement to maximize stakeholder value. Drive collaborative partnerships with Key LOCs, Global Medical Units, Research & Development, Medical Functions leaders and other cross-functional stakeholders.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Collaborate with Key LOCs and LOC Medical Excellence Leads to shape the strategic and operational alignment of Field Medical functions by continuous refinement of Field Medical capabilities that draw from current practices and internal expectations on what constitutes high performance; provide ongoing awareness of current trends within the industry and compliance guidance to ensure appropriate activity and innovation
- Provide guidance and expertise to LOC medical excellence strategy and aligned processes in support of Field Medical activities (e.g. insight gathering & communication, partnerships with Global Medical) in collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g. Regional Medical Heads, Medical Excellence Leads, Global Medical Heads, GPLS, Legal, E&C, DD&T, Clinical Development, etc.)
- Lead the development and implementation of medical capabilities and related tools that will provide a strategically aligned and consistent approach, to be used globally across Takeda business units to ensure optimal engagement
- Support Global and LOC development of processes for synthesizing medical insights obtained during scientific exchange with external customers and dissemination of medical insights to internal, global cross functional teams
- Lead discussions and provide input and consultation on Field Medical related systems and processes (e.g. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, Insight & Opinion platforms, KOL management databases, etc.) across Field Medical programs
- Represent Medical Excellence within global medical affairs teams i.e. MEST, Medical Units, Data, Digital and Technology, etc. and provides insight and leadership on field medical capability, scientific insight processes, functional strategic objectives, operational priorities, etc.
- Partner with Scientific Training and Learning Strategy to lead the design and execution of training and development initiatives that can be applied to Medical Affairs
- Collaborate with R&D business unit internal partners to continuously identify areas for projects and process of mutual benefit to demonstrate value of Takeda Medical Affairs
- Horizon scan for industry trends, technology and external excellence to share best practices for continued advancement of the Takeda Field Medical function
- Perform all company activities in full compliance with all regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry or legal requirements.

Doctoral degree in health or life sciences related field such as a PharmD, MD or Ph.D. or geographical equivalentsEight years of healthcare or related experience (clinical practice, research, academic or market access)Three years of direct / matrix managerial experience of individuals with an advanced scientific degree in a medical affairs or field-based group in the pharmaceutical industry and experience in performance management and KPIsProven track record of strong strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management and demonstrated ability to manage, lead and mentor individualsDemonstrated understanding of global ethics & compliance, legal and regulatory guidelines of the pharmaceutical industry especially in relation to medical services and Field Medical initiativesAbility to understand and align the needs from Global, Regional and LOC perspectivesProven ability to influence and have strong collaboration skills and change management with an ability to work successfully in a complex, global, matrix organizationAbility to oversee the creation of strategic, long-range plans that are aligned with strategies across the organization and to implement them successfullyLegislation, relevant country codes (PhRMA, JPMA, ABPI, EFPIA, etc.), competitor activities, key research centers, advocacy groups, general market dynamics and clinical landscape.Locations
