To ensure optimum care for all newborn pathologies, the Service works in close collaboration with other CHUV services and operates in a network with regional hospitals in a multidisciplinary, university environment. The Service is heavily involved in teaching the Faculty's medical and nursing students, as well as other professionals in training. Through research, we contribute to a better understanding of newborn diseases and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This includes both clinical and more fundamental studies, ranging from the analysis of cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the development of newborn diseases, to the study of new strategies to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neonatal pathologies, and the long-term outcome of our patients.
