at the Department of Quantum Matter Physics
As part of its strategy to strengthen its international scientific profile, the Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva is recruiting an outstanding professor. This position is intended for a researcher of international stature, recognized for the excellence of their scientific work, their ability to federate research teams, and their potential to generate a lasting impact in the field of theoretical physics, with a focus on the understanding and design of synthetic quantum materials. This position forms part of an ambitious strategy to reinforce Geneva's quantum hub, in connection with recent experimental advances in manipulating matter at the atomic scale and far from equilibrium.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding academic track record and a strategic vision to develop an ambitious and innovative research program. The ideal profile is that of a researcher able to propose an original theoretical approach to synthetic quantum materials, in fruitful interaction with experimental research. | o Conduct world-class theoretical research at the international level, in close interface with experimental advances.
o Develop competitive projects with strong potential for external funding.
o Contribute to teaching at the bachelor, master, and doctoral levels (with a reduced teaching load).
o Supervise master and doctoral research.
o Contribute actively to the department's academic life and institutional missions.
The position is full-time and permanent. It offers a cutting-edge research environment, enhanced administrative support, a substantial start-up package, and resources for recruiting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
